FLIGHTS: Southwest from Denver to Kauai
We used Southwest points for our flights from Denver to Kauai + a Southwest Companion Pass. Making the total cost of our flights $33.60 for 3 people!
If you are flexible with your dates, you can get a roundtrip ticket on Southwest for under 30K points, per person.
Tip: Use Southwest’s “Low Fare Calendar” to find the cheapest dates.
Companion Pass Tip: If you don’t have it, check out this post on how to get it.

HOTEL: Grand Hyatt Kauai
We stayed 7 nights during the week of Thanksgiving and used points for all 7 nights.
For our stay, 6 of the nights were 25K points each and 1 was 21K points. Total of 171,000 Hyatt points. Without points, this 7 night stay would have cost us $10K+
Our points came from a combination of Hyatt points we’d earned and also Chase Ultimate Rewards® Points that we earned our our credit cards and transferred to Hyatt.

Do you know how to find the cheapest award nights with Hyatt?
Check their “Points Calendar” to find the best deal for award nights. You’ll find this after you do a search for pricing, listed right under the property name/address. The award calendar only shows you what points will be if nights are available, so be sure to check availability before transferring any points to Hyatt.
