Capital One® Venture X Rewards Credit Card
This is my #1 choice for airport lounge access…
If your home airport is Denver (DEN), Dallas (DFW) or Dulles (IAD) – you should absolutely choose this card, as there are Capital One lounges at these airports.
And this card still gives excellent lounge benefits outside of those locations due to its access at Priority Pass lounges & Plaza Premium lounges – giving access to the cardholder + 2 guests to those lounges. Search for Capital One partner lounges here.
HOT TIP: If you need to get access for more than 3 people to the lounge, you can add your spouse as an authorized user to your Capital One Venture card (FOR FREE!). Then your spouse ALSO gets lounge privileges, allowing themselves + 2 guests. We recently added my brother in law as an authorized user to our account so his family now has the same lounge access we get (and yep, for free). You can add up to FOUR authorized users to your card… for free 🙂
MOST AFFORDABLE OPTION: Don’t let this card’s $395 annual fee deter you. This card has a $300 travel credit when booking in the Capital One portal. So, If you are spending more than $95 in an airport in one year, I highly recommend this card.
The Platinum Card® from American Express
This credit card comes with a huge annual fee ($695/year) however, my husband & I each have one because we find the benefits are worth the annual fee – specifically because our home airport (Denver) has a Centurion Lounge.
If your home airport does not, I personally wouldn’t recommend this card for lounge access, as the card only allows lounge access for the card holder. You have to pay for each guest. Children 2 – 17 are $30, those over 17 are $50 and those under 2 are free.
This card does give access to Priority Pass lounges for each card holder + 2 guests.
Chase Sapphire Reserve®
Chase Sapphire is also beginning to add their own airport lounges to the mix.
Currently there’s a Chase Sapphire Terrace at the Austin airport.
And Sapphire Lounge by The Club currently open in Boston (BOS) & Hong Kong (HKG) – with a new location slated for Las Vegas (LAS) This card also has access to the Priority Pass lounges.
PRIORITY PASS RESTAURANT ACCESS: On top of Priority Pass lounge access, this card actually gives you the Priority Pass restaurant benefit too. At Priority Pass restaurants, the cardholder + 1 guest each get up to $28 in food ($56 total).
